Nami Melumad is a composer with over 150 film, television, and video game credits across a broad spectrum of genres. Her work includes major studio productions such as Pixar’s Dream Productions, Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder (co-scored with Michael Giacchino), and the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Prodigy—making her the first woman to compose for the Star Trek franchise.

Melumad’s diverse slate includes the Disney short Far from the Tree, HBO Max’s An American Pickle starring Seth Rogen, Amazon’s #1 streamed action film One Fast Move, Netflix’s The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, and the award-winning VR video game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. Her music can also be heard in the Oscar®-winning documentary short Colette and the Academy Award-nominated Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, for which she contributed additional music and arrangements. Other works include the Tribeca award-winning coming-of-age story Griffin in Summer, and The Ice Cream Man, a historical drama exploring resistance to Nazi occupation, and Estación Rocafort, a chilling thriller-horror film set in Barcelona.

An award-winning composer, Melumad is the 2023 recipient of the SCL’s David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent. She has received multiple honors from the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA), BMI, the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA), and other international festivals. Her work has been recognized for both innovation and emotional depth, including the IFMCA award for Best Original Score for a Video Game and a Children’s & Family Emmy® nomination for her score editing on Star Trek: Prodigy.

A strong advocate for inclusive and meaningful storytelling, Melumad often gravitates toward projects that spotlight underrepresented voices. Her scores have elevated narratives from Subira—Kenya’s official submission to the 92nd Academy Awards—to Miss Arizona, More Beautiful for Having Been Broken, and Not Your Skin, a documentary on the transgender experience.

Her music has been recorded at leading scoring stages including Abbey Road Studios, Warner Brothers Eastwood Scoring Stage., Fox Newman Stage, Capitol Records, and performed by top orchestras such as the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, Portland Symphony, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva and Helix Collective Ensemble.

A graduate of USC’s Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program and the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, Melumad also holds a B.A. in composition from the Jerusalem Academy of Music. She currently serves on the boards of the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC), the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers (ASMAC), and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

Melumad is represented by Maria Machado at the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency.
